Landscaping the garden for extra space
Landscape design principles are based on standard principles within the science of horticulture. Creating gardens that look and feel like 'outdoor rooms' makes it possible to enjoy landscaped gardens at any point in time. Landscaping gardens is a pastime that not all people enjoy. Hiring a professional to design the outdoor areas is something that many people opt for, not only because they do not have the time to design the garden themselves, but also because a professional landscaper knows how to deal with different types of soils and the individual needs of the client.
However Robert Schutzki, a professor at the Michigan State University of horticulture and landscape design, states that very significant design opportunities are skipped or missed out on by landscaping professionals. The reason for this is that the landscaper does not always take the time to sit down with a client and discuss their preferences and personal wishes for their outdoor area.
Instead of thinking of the garden as a focal point on the outside of the home, the first thing that people notice when they approach a house, designers should see the area that needs landscaping as an extension of the home, as an extra room as it were. If a garden is laid out like an extra living space this means that the client will be able to enjoy a functional and beautiful garden that can be used for entertaining. Taking care to pick the right landscaper if people decide to hire someone for the job seems most important thing to do. Certified landscapers know how to deal with any type of garden and soil.
