Landscaping Grasses

There are many different types of grasses that can be used in landscape design. These grasses come in different varieties and can add height, fullness and color tp your garden, borders and beds.

The type of grass to choose and use in your garden depends upon the environment. Some grasses grow well in dry environment, other thrive only in wet environments.

One kind of grass that can grow well in drier conditions is the Prairie grass. It is a good choice in planting in areas that are typically less moist. However ensure that the soil does not become overly dry or dusty

The "wet" type of grass is the Blue dwarf sedge. You will find this grass naturally occurring along riverbanks, streams and ponds. If you submerge it in water it can withstand the condition and it does well in soil that is frequently wet.

Lily turf is a low growing, grass that is often used in landscaping for ground cover.
