Flagstone Landscaping

Landscaping with patios is not difficult. It requires time, patience and will power. You will also need a back brace, gloves and goggles. When you are making a patio out of flagstone the stone used for the project should be 2 inches thick. The thickest widest pieces of the flagstone will give you the most stability.

Some of the pointers when making a patio out of a flagstone are:

Pick as level a spot as possible for your flagstone patio. If you want your finished product's surface to turn out level, start on level ground.

Measure before doing anything. If your flagstone patio is to be, say, 10' x 8', then the length of 10 feet on one side of the patio and measure out the 8' width in the same way.

Use a spade to plunge 4" deep all around the perimeter of the rectangle you just plotted out for your flagstone patio. Then use a digging shovel to excavate all that sod and soil, down to a depth of 4".

Set a scrap 10' plank down on the ground, so that it runs the length of the rectangle on the left-hand side

Then set the plank down so that it runs the width of the rectangle and repeat the process
